LOS ANGELES - The Penn State women's soccer team fell to UCLA, 1-0, in an overtime contest Friday night at Drake Stadium. Canadian Bronze medalist freshman Jessie Fleming scored the game-winning goal off a header in the 99th minute for the Bruins.

The Nittany Lions, playing their third ranked opponent of the season, fall to 1-2-1 in 2016, while UCLA improves to 3-1-0.

The Nittany Lions outshot the Bruins by a margin of 6-3 over the first 45 minutes of play. During the opening frame, Frannie Crouse (Greensburg, Pa.) and Salina Williford (Wayne, Pa.) led the PSU offense with two shot attempts apiece.

In the first half for UCLA, goalkeeper Teagan Micah stepped up for four saves, while the Bruin offense tallied three shot attempts with none on goal. The Bruins recorded their first shot on goal of the night on Fleming's shot attempt in the 80th minute.

With 33 seconds left in regulation, Laura Freigang (Oppenheim, Germany) found Charlotte Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) behind the UCLA defense. From 10 yards out, Williams received a pass from Freigang and put the ball over the net sending the contest into overtime tied at zero.

During regulation, the Nittany Lions outshot the Bruins, 10-7, and posted a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal.

The Bruin offense tallied three shot attempts during the first period of overtime, including the game-winner at 98:01. Following a corner kick from MacKenzie Cerda, Fleming connected on the pass and headed home the ball from seven yards out and near the left post.

The Nittany Lions close out their California road trip in Long Beach, Calif., against Long Beach State Sunday at 8 p.m. (EDT)
