Lion Men's Tennis Concludes Action at ITA Regional Championships

October 18, 2016 - UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; After a very strong run in Blacksburg, the Penn State men's tennis team concluded competition yesterday. This will wrap up the Lions tenure at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships this year.

After three days of competition, the blue and white had four players still standing. Senior Christian Lutschaunig (Richboro, Pa.), sophomore Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France), freshman Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil), and freshman Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario, Canada) each made it to the final rounds of competition in the tournament.

"I was disappointed in our performance yesterday in both doubles and singles," said head coach Jeff Zinn. "We seemed to not be at our best, which is not what you want in the semifinals of a tournament. Overall it was a very successful tournament, but I wish we had produced a champion today."

"I was a little disappointed that we couldn't go deeper in the tournament" said associate head coach Paul Tobin. "We certainly had the opportunity, but we just couldn't pull it through this weekend."

The ITA Regional Championships host the best players from each region, allowing them to showcase their talent on a higher level. The Lions had a good run and look forward to their next conquest on November 4-6 at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, held at Wisconsin.
