INDIANAPOLIS - The Penn State women's soccer team has been selected to its 22nd-straight NCAA Tournament, as announced by the NCAA Monday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions (11-4-4) will host the Bucknell Bison (16-1-2) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. at Jeffrey Field.
The Bison advanced to their third NCAA Tournament after defeating Boston University, 2-1, in overtime to capture their third Patriot League Tournament title on Nov. 6.
Penn State and Bucknell have met 19 times with the Nittany Lions leading the all-time series, 18-0-1. The Nittany Lions and Bison have met twice in the NCAA Tournament with Penn State winning both times (2001 & 2005).
During the 2016 regular season, the Penn State women's soccer team played nine teams that advanced to the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
Penn State and seven other Big Ten schools advanced to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. The eight 2016 NCAA Tournament selections ties a Big Ten record (2013) and is the most among conferences.
The Nittany Lions captured their first NCAA Tournament title in program history last season with a 1-0 win over Duke on Dec. 6, 2015.
Ticket sales at Jeffrey Field are cash only, but fans can purchase tickets for the match prior to Friday by calling 1-800-NITTANY or visiting the ticket office at the Bryce Jordan Center. Tickets go on-sale Wednesday, Nov. 9, starting at 10 a.m.
Ticket prices are: $8 for adults, $5 for youth and students of participating schools and $3 for groups of 20 or more.
