UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's basketball program returns home for the first of four straight home contests when they host Pittsburgh on Saturday, Dec. 10 inside the Bryce Jordan Center. The Lady Lions and Panthers will tip off at 2 p.m. and the game will air live on the Penn State Sports Network and video will be available at BTN2go.com.

Scouting Pittsburgh

  • Pittsburgh enters today's meeting with a 7-2 overall mark, opening the season with seven-straight wins. The Panthers will be playing their first game of the season away from the Petersen Events Center.
  • Pitt's two losses came in back-to-back contests on Nov. 30 vs. Purdue (67-61) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and then on Dec. 4 against Charlotte, 70-63.
  • Pittsburgh is among the national leaders in scoring defense and scoring margin. The Panthers rank No. 14 in the NCAA at 52.4 point allowed per game and their +18.1 scoring margin is No. 32 nationally.
  • Sophomore Brenna Wise is leading the team with a 13.2 scoring average and 7.3 rebounds per game. Wise is shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 82.8 percent from the free throw line.
  • The trio of Kauai Bradley, Aysia Bugg and Jasmine Whitney are all averaging over 3.7 assists per game. Whitney is averaging 4.5 assists, Bugg is at 4.2 and Bradley is siting with 3.7 assists per game.
  • Bradley also leads the team with 26 steals and 14 blocked shots, adding 8.9 points per game to her stat sheet..

Series Notes

  • Saturday's meeting will mark the 41st time that the Lady Lions have played against in-state foe Pittsburgh and the 18th time they have played the Panthers at home.
    Penn State owns a 27-13 all-time record against Pitt, winning three of the last five meetings between the two programs.
  • The Lady Lions and the Panthers last met on the floor in the 2009-10 campaign with Penn State earning a 77-73 victory at the Bryce Jordan Center

  • Lindsey Spann moved past the 900-point mark for her career with a game-high 18 points. She now has 902 points in 69 career games.
  • Teniya Page scored 17 points to mark her eighth double-digit scoring effort of the season.

  • The win marked Penn State's first win over a ranked opponent since Dec. 2, 2007 against #10/11 Duke.
  • With 27 points, senior Tyra Grant topped the 1,600-point plateau for her career and moved past Andrea Garner (1,619) for eighth place on Penn State's career scoring list.
  • It was Grant's 30th career game with 20-plus points, as she has reached double-digits in her 22nd-straight game.
