UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; January 18, 2017- Penn State women's head tennis coach Chris Cagle has announced that Hanna Wikberg will join the Nittany Lions in the fall.
Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, Wikberg has been consistently ranked as one of the top players in Sweden during her junior career. Already having had an excellent junior career, she was the winner of the Stockholm Regional Championship in singles and doubles in 2014. Wikberg was a semifinalist in the biggest Swedish tournament, the SALK Open Tournament, in singles and doubles as well as a semifinalist in Swedish Nationals in singles and runner-up in doubles. She won two ITF G4 doubles titles in 2015 and 2016. Wikberg was a doubles quarterfinalist twice in ITF Futures Women's Tournaments.
"I am extremely excited about Hanna joining our team in the fall of 2017," commented Cagle. "Hanna was very interested in Penn State for our balance of elite tennis and elite academics. She comes from a tennis family that understands what college tennis is all about and specifically what Penn State is about with an uncle that went to Penn State. Hanna is one of the top players in Sweden and will be a great addition to our team and program."
Wikberg will suit up for the Nittany Lions for the 2017-2018 season.
