February 12, 2017 - UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; The Penn State men's tennis team hosted the first of two matches today at the Indoor Tennis Center against the James Madison University Rams. Today's doubleheader will conclude this evening with a 5 p.m. match against Bucknell.
The Lions swept on all three courts to secure the doubles point during today's competition. Henry Gordon (New Braunfels, Tx.) and Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece) teamed up to defeat Sebastian Salinas and Tate Steinour 6-1. Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil) partnered with Marc Collado (Barcelona, Spain) and took down Theophile Lanthiez and Paul Mendoza 6-3. Nika Dolidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) and Ben Lieb (Newtown Square, Pa.) paired against Damon Roberts and August Simonsen and were victorious with a 6-4 result.
The blue and white swept all sets today in singles as well. Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario, Canada) defeated Sebastian Salinas in a 6-3, 6-0 match. Aws Laaribi won his match against Damon Roberts 6-3, 6-2. Christos Antonopoulos defeated Brett Moorehead 6-2, 6-3 to secure the win for the Lions. Constant De La Bassetiere was victorious 6-2, 7-5 against Theophile Lanthiez. Marc Collado eased past Tate Steinour to win his match 6-3, 6-0. Ben Lieb also won his match today against Paul Mendoza in a 7-5, 6-2 show.
The Lions will return to their home courts again this week to open up Big Ten conference play against Ohio State on Wednesday, February 15.
