THE MEET
The Nittany Lions will face some of the toughest competition in the country as three conference teams enter the event as members of the Top 25. Michigan leads the conference ranking sixth and following are No. 12 Wisconsin and No. 21 Minnesota.
Penn State is looking to improve on a seventh-place finish last season. Michigan claimed the 2016 championship, while Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio State and Purdue rounded out the top five in order.
All-B1G RETURNERS
Niki Price (Manchester, Pa.) and Katie Saloky (Bloomsburg, Pa.) earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2016 and 2015, respectively. Price was a member of Penn State's record-breaking 400 free relay effort that placed runner-up to conclude last year's meet.
B1G CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
Penn State has claimed three Big Ten women's swimming championships (2002, 2005, 2006) and 41 individual championships since first competing in 1992.
FREESTYLE
Saloky, Tommie Dillione (Newtown, Pa.) and Casey Francis (East Meadow, N.Y.) enter the Big Ten Championships as Penn State's top freestyle performers.
In the sprint freestyles, Saloky owns Penn State's top times in the 50 and 100 frees, and her 50 free season best of 22.57 ranks eighth in the Big Ten on the psych sheet. Dillione owns the Lions' best mark in the 200 free at 1:47.65 to rank 13th in conference, while freshman Siena Salvaggio (Allentown, Pa.) also ranks in the top 20 with a top time of 1:48.69. Dillione (50.36) and Salvaggio (50.48) are both threats in the 100 too, as both rank in the top 25 on the psych sheet.
