SB Unveils 2017 Promotional Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State softball team has released its 2017 promotional schedule that is chalked full of exciting game day themes for fans to enjoy during the 13 home dates at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field. Below are details for many of the exciting events, promotions and themed games that will occur this season.

Themed Games

  • Kid's Zone Day - Indiana (April 1) and vs. Rutgers (April 22): The kid's zone will be filled with fun activities including face painters, an airbrush tattoo artist, a cartoonist, a balloon artist and a poster making station.
    • The Cub Club is open to children eighth grade or younger for the 2017 athletic year and allows free admission to a variety of Penn State athletic events, including selected softball games.

  • Faculty/Staff Night - Ohio State (April 12): The Nittany Lions will invite their favorite professor to join the team on the field pregame.
  • Blue-White Carnival - Rutgers (April 23): A pregame tailgate with a variety of games for fans to enjoy and a chance to see the 2017 team prior to its contest against the Scarlet Knights.
  • Cinco De Mayo - Minnesota (May 5): Wear your favorite Cinco De Mayo outfit to the game to help celebrate.
  • Breast Cancer Awareness Game - Minnesota (May 6): Penn State softball will celebrate survivors and bring them on the field for recognition prior to the game against Minnesota.
  • Kids Takeover Beard Field - Minnesota (May 7): Kids will have the chance to help with public address, statting the game and running in-game promotions as the team takes on the Golden Gophers in a Big Ten contest.
  • Senior Day - Minnesota (May 7): Join us as we celebrate our five seniors: Jessica Haug, Marlaina Laubach, Sam Shanahan, Kristina Brackpool and Shelby Miller. A pregame ceremony and in-game activities will highlight each student-athletes career as a Nittany Lion.

Game Day Promotions

  • Wednesday Night Bingo - All Wednesday home games will give fans the chance to play softball bingo while cheering on the Nittany Lions.
  • Kids Run the Bases - Following every Saturday game, kids 12 and under will have the opportunity to run the bases at Beard Field.
  • Trading Card Giveaway - Sunday games will giveaway trading cards of the 2017 team by class, while the freshman trading card will be given away Friday, March 31 against Indiana.
  • Team Autographs - Sunday games will also feature a chance to get the 2017 poster or trading cards signed by the team.
