UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State stands alone in second place after a snow delayed opening round of 283 puts them at 3-over, three strokes behind Louisville in the 22-team field at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Virginia.

With the day set for two waves of action, snow delayed the first wave resulting in all teams beginning play just after noon.

The Lions lead the tournament in birdies at 17 and are one of two teams with three golfers within the top-10.

Sophomore Ryan Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) led the way for the Blue and White as he shot the only subpar round of the day for the team finishing at one-under. Dornes shot very consistently carding only two bogies that he cancelled out with three birdies and is tied for third place heading into round two.

Junior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) continued his strong play of late recording an even par round of 70 sitting tied for sixth place. Miller was able to rattle off a streak of four straight birdies to close out the front-nine to pace his round. Senior Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) finished day one at one-over with a 71 and tied for ninth place.

Freshman Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) and sophomore Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) shot 73 and 78 to finish at 3-over and 8-over, respectively.

Behind the Cardinals and Nittany Lions are Tennessee at 286 in third and Sam Houston State at 290 in fourth.

Nicolas Platret and Keegan de Lange, both Cardinals, sit atop the individual leaderboard at 2-under with Dornes in a three-way tie for third place at one-under.

The Lions will tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. for second round action with student athletes from Tennessee and Louisville.
