MTEN Falls to Penn 4-3

March 26, 2017 - UNIVERISTY PARK, Pa.; The Penn State men's tennis team took on Penn in the first match of a double-header today outdoors on their home courts at Sarni Tennis Center. It was another hard fought battle for the Lions that unfortunately ended in a 4-3 result favoring the Quakers.

The blue and white dropped the doubles point in this first match. Ben Lieb (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Aws Laaribi (Rye, N.Y.) picked up the lone doubles win today with a 6-1 victory over Josh Pompan and Thomas Spratt.

Singles competition was tough today for both Pennsylvania teams. Ben Lieb came up with the first point today in a 6-2, 7-5 win over Gabriel Rapoport. Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece) followed with a 6-3, 7-5 defeat of Nicholai Westergaard. Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) brought home the third point for the blue and white today with a three set match against Kyle Mautner that ended with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 result.

The Lions will conclude todays double-header against NJIT this afternoon at the Indoor Tennis Center.
