UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
-- On the final day of the regular season and senior night, No. 13 Penn State (19-10, 11-3) claimed outright ownership of the EIVA regular season title downing George Mason 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 28-26) Saturday night at Rec Hall.

"Another regular season is in the books," said head coach Mark Pavlik.

"I think once we hit our stride, Cal started to heat up in game two, and the next thing you know we were going toe-to-toe with them," Pavlik continued.

"I thought we sustained our level of physicality pretty well. I thought they did a real nice job of with staying aggressive and swinging at balls but I thought there was some big boy volleyball played out there tonight. Nobody really backed off and tried to be safe, and I think at this point in the season that's the sign of 'im carrying through with this' and that's the type of volleyball we need to play to be successful in hopefully the next five matches we have."

Calvin Mende put the exclamation point on the match with a kill off the over pass to take the set 28-26 and the match 3-1 over the Patriots.

Mende, the Mike Anderson Player of the Match, finished with a match-high 24 kills hitting .543 while adding four digs and two blocks on the night.

Luke Braswell led Penn State in assist dishing out 44 while Royce Clemens recorded a team-high 13 digs.
