WTEN Downed By Iowa, 6-1

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; April 9, 2017-- The Penn State women's tennis team fell to Iowa 6-1 in a Big Ten matchup to close out the weekend. The Nittany Lions have four matches left in the season. They travel to Illinois next weekend for matchups against Northwestern and the Fighting Illini. They will close out the season at home the weekend of April 21.

"The overall score of the match is not indicative of how we competed today," said head coach Chris Cagle. "We played hard and had chances but we did not quite convert enough of the opportunities we had. We are close but we just need to get over the hump to create momentum. We will build off today as we go into our week of work for Northwestern and Illinois."

Junior Bennett Dunn won her singles match in straight sets against Montana Crawford 6-2, 6-3. Penn State was unable to collect the extra doubles point, falling in two of the three doubles matches.

The Nittany Lions will return home for a week of practice before traveling to Illinois. First serve is set for 6:00p.m. against Northwestern Friday, April 14.
