June 12, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Rising redshirt sophomore defenders Ellie Jean (Coventry, Conn.) and Kaleigh Riehl (Fairfax Station, Va.) were a part of the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team that placed second at the 2017 Women's U-23 Four-Nations Nordic Tournament in Sweden.

The 2017 Women's U-23 Four-Nations Nordic Tournament marked the second call-up to the U.S. U-23 WNT for both Jean and Riehl. This past March, the Nittany Lion duo took part in a training camp and three matches with the U.S. U-23 WNT in Portland, Ore.

The U.S. U-23 WNT closed out the 2017 Women's U-23 Four-Nations Nordic Tournament with a 2-0-1 record, but England captured the crown based on goal differential. At the tournament, the Red, White, & Blue tallied a 3-0 victory over Norway (June 6), finished in a 0-0 draw against England (June 9), and closed out the competition with a 2-1 win over host Sweden (June 12).

In the tournament opener against Norway, both Jean and Riehl recorded starts with Riehl scoring in the 82nd minute to put the United States up 3-0. Riehl also went on to record starts in the final two matches.
