UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.ââ'¬" Penn State men's golf student-athlete Cole Miller has been selected an honorable-mention PING All-American.
A rising senior, Miller is among five Big Ten Conference golfers who were recognized on the PING All-America teams.
From New Tripoli, Pa., Miller won the NCAA's Washington Regional, boosting the Nittany Lions to the NCAA Championships. An All-Big Ten selection, he won or tied for five individual titles this past spring, including the Seminole Intercollegiate and the Kingsmill Intercollegiate. Miller also garnered his third consecutive PING All-Region recognition during the 2016-17 campaign.
Miller recently competed in the prestigious British Amateur Championship at Royal St. George's Golf Club and neighboring Princes Golf Club in England. Miller had a two-day total of one-over 143 (71-72), which ranked fourth-lowest among the 13 Americans in the field.
Penn State made its 23rd NCAA Championship regional appearance under Coach Greg Nye, finishing fifth in the Washington Regional after being seeded No. 9 in the regional. The Nittany Lions advanced to the NCAA Championships finals for the fifth time under Nye. Seeded No. 30 entering the NCAA finals, Penn State vaulted past four teams during the third round to finish in a tie for 24th place.
All five of Penn State's NCAA Championship participants are slated to return for the 2017-18 season, four of whom have at least two more years of eligibility.
