Swarthmore Athletics Release

SWARTHMORE, Pa.
-Swarthmore College Marian Ware Director of Physical Education and Athletics Adam Hertz announced that Penn State Field Hockey alum Hannah Allison has been named the new field hockey head coach for the Garnet.

"I think I'm ready to have my own program," said Allison. "Jeremy (Cook) had a lot to do with this and obviously the support from Penn State and their staff. I'm excited, I'm ready and I'm anxious to get started."

Allison comes to Swarthmore from Bucknell University and has experience at both the Division I and III levels. She has been an assistant coach at Bucknell since the 2015 season and helped the Bison to two Patriot League Tournament appearances and an upset win over No. 12 Albany in 2016. Prior to coaching at Bucknell, Allison coached for two seasons at Division III Ohio Wesleyan University, where she was the assistant coach in 2013 and the interim head coach in 2014. As head coach, Allison guided the team to a 10-9 record and closed out the season with a 7-3 stretch.
"(Penn State) is always helping me grow as a coach. Char (Charlene Morett-Curtiss) is actually the person who really helped me decide to take the job and I definitely thank her for that as well as the Jeremy who was a huge help in deciding to make the move and preparing me for the last two years."

As a student-athlete for the Nittany Lions, Allison started in 79 games, scored 26 goals, and played in three NCAA tournaments, advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals her final two seasons. She graduated from Penn State in 2013 with a bachelor's in kinesiology.

Swarthmore Field Hockey begins the 2017 season at home on Sept. 1 against Widener University.
