WTN: Lions Announce Fall Schedule

Aug. 10, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lion women's tennis team, under the direction of head coach Chris Cagle, has announced the fall portion of its 2017-18 schedule. The Nittany Lions will take part in six tournaments over five separate weekends from mid-September through early November.

Penn State, which will feature balanced roster of experienced veterans and talented newcomers, opens up its season on September 15-17 at the USTA Bahamas Invitational in Nassau, Bahamas. The next weekend, Cagle's crew will travel to Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania for the UPenn Invitational on Sept. 22-24.

The Nittany Lions trek to Wilmington, N.C., for the UNC-Wilmington Invitational on Sept. 29-Oct. 1. Two weeks later, Penn State will take part in the ITA Regionals at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. The Nittany Lions close out the fall tournament slate on Nov. 3-5 with split squad action. The squad will split between the University of North Carolina's Kitty Harrison Invitational and Virginia Tech's Hokie Invitational.

"I am excited to release the fall tournament schedule for 2017," Cagle said. "Once again we are challenging our team with the strongest competition possible in the fall to prepare for the spring season. Our schedule features numerous top 25 teams from last year, a great way to see where we are as a team and individually. The fall is always an exciting time and I look forward to working with this year's team to see just good we can be."
