UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
- The Penn State field hockey team will see its first action of the 2017 season on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. as the Nittany Lions play an exhibition match against James Madison University at Penn State Field Hockey Complex.

The Nittany Lions, who posted a 17-3 record and captured the Big Ten Tournament title last year, welcome back All-American's Aurelia Meijer and Moira Putsch, as well as 2016 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Mideast All-Region members Gini Bramley and Skyler Fretz.

Putsch led Penn State with 16 goals last season as well as finishing the year as the NCAA leader in assist per game averaging 1.0 per game (20 total).

Three others return from last years team that contributed 11 or more goals including Shay Cannon, Meijer and Bramley.

Members of the Colonial Athletic Association, James Madison posted a 13-7 overall mark in 2016 recording a 4-2 mark in conference play and advancing to the final of the CAA Championship tournament before bowing out to eventual National Champion in Delaware.

Penn State officially opens the 2017 season on Friday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. traveling to Norfolk, Va. to face Old Dominion, followed by a trip to Charlottesville, Va. on Aug. 27 to take on Virginia at 1 p.m.

Please Note: For Tuesday, August 15 spectator parking is available free of charge beginning one hour prior to game time in Stadium West parking lot.

Please enter off of Park Avenue at the Stadium West traffic light. All other surrounding lots including the Yellow lots by Wagner, Pegula and Shields buildings as well as the Orange-F lot near East Area Locker Room will be patrolled and parking regulations enforced until 9:00 p.m. for the Yellow lots and 5:00 p.m. for the Orange lots.
