Three Nittany Lions Make Big Ten MGOLF Preseason Watchlist

Aug. 30, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Big Ten Conference announced its 2017-18 preseason honorees for men's golf with three Nittany Lions, senior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) and juniors Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) and JD Hughes (Carlisle, Pa.) making the list.

Miller won last year's NCAA Washington Regional and was a second-team Big Ten honoree. A participant in the 2017 U.S. Amateur and British Amateur Championships, Miller is the 2016 Pennsylvania Amateur Champion and finished as a runner-up in this year's tournament.

Huntzinger was an All-Big Ten honoree a season ago and a member of the second-team in his freshman campaign. Hughes is entering the season with his victory in the Pennsylvania Amateur earlier this summer.

Under the tutelage of head coach Greg Nye, all three student-athletes were All-Region performers a season ago after helping Penn State to its 23rd appearance in the NCAA Championships and advance to the NCAA Finals.

The Penn State men's golf team will open up its 2017 fall season at the Gopher Invitational in Independence, Minn. The two-day tournament tees off on September 10.
