Men's Golf Tied for 12th After Shortened First Day

INDEPENDENCE, Minn. -

The Penn State men's golf team played a shortened day one at the Gopher Invitational on Sunday and currently sits in a tie for 12th place at 21-over par heading into the final day of the tournament.

Round two will resume at 9:30 a.m. ET and round three will begin immediately following. Live scoring for the Gopher Invitational is available online.

The Nittany Lions are led by senior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) who sits at 2-over through 12 holes in his second round. Junior Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) shot a 6-over 77 to start the day and came back to shoot a 2-under 69, birdying three of his final four holes.

Junior JD Hughes (Carlisle, Pa.) carded a team-high seven birdies on the day, shooting rounds of 4-over 75 and 3-over 74. Sophomore Alec Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) also saw improvement as the day went on. He shot rounds of 6-over 77 and 2-over 73. Junior Ryan Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) carded rounds of 6-over 77 and 4-over 75. Huntzinger, Hughes, Bard, and Dornes were able to complete all 36 holes.

Arkansas is the current team leader sitting at 1-over par and Penn State is deadlocked with San Diego State and Big Ten foe Iowa.
