JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. - Round 1 Results
The Penn State men's golf team is out to a 3-stroke lead after a team total of 11-under in round one of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridge.
With a team total of 277, the Nittany Lions were able to close out day one with the early lead.
Junior JD Hughes (Carlisle, Pa.) is the tournament's individual leader after a career-low 6-under 66 in round one. Hughes put together a seven-birdie round, playing the par-4's at 3-under.
Round two will tee off Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. ET and round three will follow on Sunday in the final day of the tournament. Live scoring is available here.
Also under par for the Blue and White were junior Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) and senior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) with rounds of 3-under 69 and 2-under 70, respectively. Huntzinger sits in a tie for eight and Miller is tied for 11th individually.
Junior Ryan Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) put together a round of even-par 72 for a tie at 28th.
Freshman Daniel Martinez (Austin, Texas) shot a round of 3-under 69 in his first collegiate event. Martinez is competing as an individual and is in a tie for eighth place.
The Nittany Lions were Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate champions in 2015 and Huntzinger was the tournament's individual champion a year ago.
