NEW YORK CITY - Penn State coach Patrick Chambers and three members of the Nittany Lion basketball team met with members of the national and local media corps for 2017 Big Ten Media Day at Madison Square Garden October 19. Attracting more than 100 media outlets, it was the first time the event was held at Madison Square Garden (MSG).
Sophomores Tony Carr and Lamar Stevens and junior Josh Reaves spoke with media members about their excitement for the Big Ten Tournament coming to New York City. However, they are focused on what they need to do "one practice, one day, one game" at a time, explaining that they learned from both their wins and losses in 2016-17.
Penn State will return to New York twice in the coming months - first for the Legends Classic Monday-Tuesday, Nov. 20-21 at the Barclays Center and then back to MSG for the 2018 Big Ten Tournament February 28-March 4. The Nittany Lions play Pitt in Monday's game (approx. 9:30 p.m.) of the Legends Classic with Oklahoma State and Texas A&M playing in the first game that night.
Chambers, Carr and Stevens appeared on a segment of BTN Live in the afternoon and discussed both the upcoming season and the summer's team bonding experiences in the Bahamas with Dave Revsine.
While the Nittany Lions were excited to be in the "mecca" of basketball at MSG, they explained that they aren't looking ahead, but as Stevens emphasized, "you have to win the practice before you can win the next game."

Following the appearance on BTN Live, Chambers and the Nittany Lions were highlighted in roundtable discussions where they spoke with media members in a one-on-one format.
Earlier in the day, Chambers spoke to the collective media as all 14 conference coaches conducted a brief press conference and answered questions. All three student-athletes participated in interviews and photo sessions with Big Ten media partners.
The Nittany Lions will host Bloomsburg in an exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 12 p.m. and open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10, hosting Campbell at 4 p.m. during Penn State's Homecoming weekend events.
