Basketball Home Game Enhanced Security Set for 2017-18 Season

Oct. 24, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State fans and patrons of the Bryce Jordan Center are being advised of enhanced security measures implemented last year for concerts and other events at the facility. These measures are being extended to additional BJC events, including Penn State men's and women's basketball games and wrestling matches in the facility.

Beginning with the 2017-18 seasons, metal detectors are being added at entry points, in addition to enforcement of Intercollegiate Athletics' bag policy.

The enhanced security measures will be in place starting with the women's basketball exhibition game vs. Cedarville on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. The Nittany Lion basketball team has a home exhibition contest vs. Bloomsburg on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 12 p.m. The measures also will be in effect for the wrestling team's match vs. Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 10 in the Jordan Center.

The use of metal detectors is an industry safeguard procedure that is part of the Bryce Jordan Center security protocol. Fans who have attended other BJC events in the past year are likely to have experienced this heightened security measure. The overall safety and security of fans, teams and facility personnel is a top priority at all Penn State venues.

The Penn State men's and women's basketball teams will open their regular seasons in the Bryce Jordan Center on Friday, Nov. 10 during Penn State's Homecoming weekend. The Nittany Lions host Campbell at 4 p.m. and the Lady Lions host Siena at 7 p.m.

On Nov. 10, fans who attend the 4 p.m. men's basketball game vs. Campbell will be able to attend the Lady Lions' game with Siena at 7 p.m. Fans who stay will need to move to the baseline courtside seats or to section 112 to accommodate women's basketball season ticket holders.

Fans attending the men's game vs. Campbell who want to watch the Homecoming parade, which begins at 6 p.m., will be able to leave the Jordan Center and return for the Lady Lions' game vs. Siena with their men's ticket, entering the Jordan Center at Gate B.
