FNC: Nittany Lion Men Compete at Temple Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State men's fencing team competed at the Temple Open today, capping off the tournament's action for the Nittany Lions. Head coach Wes Glon's squad was strong throughout the day.

Junior Joshua Cole (Chappaqua, N.Y.) brought home Penn State's top finish, placing first in the epee. Freshman Stefan Nico Popovici (Katy, Texas) was also solid, finishing seventh.

The men's foil team followed up on that success. Sophomores Andrew Grass (Burke,Va.) and Andrey Ostatnigrosh (Fresno, Calif.) took third and fifth, respectively, with freshmen Shane Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Tomas Koeck (Fairfield, Conn.) taking 14th and 21st.

Penn State's young saber team was also competitive with freshmen Chase Pflueger (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Maksymilian Mateja (Arlington Heights, Ill.) taking 13th and 17th.
