WINTHROP, Mass. - Sophomore Daniela Paniccia (Oakville, Ontario) has been named the College Hockey America (CHA) Goalie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is the fourth career CHA Goalie of the Week honor for Paniccia. Her plaudit Monday marks the second-straight week a Penn State netminder received CHA Goalie of the Week honors (Hannah Ehresmann - Oct. 3).
This past weekend, Paniccia made appearances in both games against the Union Dutchwomen. In the series opener on Oct. 6, she closed out a 3-1 victory for the Nittany Lions by recording four saves in the final 20 minutes of the game after taking over in net during the second intermission. Paniccia then tallied a 20-save outing in a 1-1 tie in the series finale on Oct. 7.
On the weekend, she made 24 saves, allowed only one goal, tallied a goals-against average of 0.71 and posted a save percentage of .960. Paniccia led the CHA last weekend in save percentage and in goals-against average.
The Nittany Lions continue their homestand against the No. 2 Clarkson Golden Knights, Oct. 13-14. Puck drop is set for Friday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m.
