UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - On Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 12 p.m., Dr. Roberta Millard will give a gallery talk with a discussion in the Penn State All-Sports Museum's swimming and diving gallery.
A 1982 and 1986 graduate of Penn State University, Dr. Millard was an outstanding swimmer on the varsity team from 1978-1982. An All-American in 1982, she was an NCAA qualifier, served as team captain, and was voted team MVP. Millard formerly held eight individual and relay records, and went on to win the Ernest McCoy Scholar Athlete Award in 1982 as well as won an NCAA post-graduate scholarship.
Millard earned her M.D. in 1986 from the Penn State Hershey College of Medicine, completed her residencies in 1989 at the University of Virginia, and joined the faculty at Penn State Hershey in 1989. Starting in 2004, she became a team physician and currently serves women's soccer, men's soccer, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, women's basketball, women's track and cross country, men's track and cross country, and the dance team.
Gallery talks are held in the Penn State All-Sports Museum, which is located on the southwest corner of Beaver Stadium opposite the Bryce Jordan Center. A long canopy leading from Curtin Road marks the Museum entrance. There is a small kiosk lot across the street from the museum for visitor parking, as well as in Lot 44 for those with an appropriate pass. All gallery talks are live-streamed on the PSASM's Facebook page for those unable to attend. This event is free and open to the community.
The Penn State All-Sports Museum will host monthly gallery talks with a wide variety of coaches, alumni, and scholars throughout 2017. The gallery talks are casual, and no registration is required. Below is a list of upcoming gallery talks. Dates are subject to change.
