LORETTO, Pa. ââ'¬" No. 9 Penn State grabbed its first EIVA conference win of the season Saturday night at DeGol Arena as the Nittany Lions swept the Red Flash 25-23, 25-18, 25-20.

Penn State (6-2) opened the match with a close 25-23 first set win to take a 1-0 lead over the Red Flash on the road. The Nittany Lions followed the closest set win of the night with the largest set win of the night taking a 2-0 match lead winning the second set 25-18. Set three saw Penn State close hard as the Lions took the set 25-20 sweeping the Red Flash 3-0 in the EIVA opener.

Matthew McLaren led Penn State in kills on the night registering 12 to go along with three service aces, one dig and two blocks. McLaren tied with Saint Francis' Stephen Braswell who posted 12 kills of his own.

Luke Braswell dished out 28 assists while Royce Clemens recorded a match-high 17 digs.

Penn State hit .275 for the match with a set high .387 hitting percentage in the second set where the Nittany Lions recorded 14 kills on 31 swings while only committing two attack errors.

With the win, Penn State improves to 40-3 all-time vs. Saint Francis (Pa.).

Penn State continues EIVA conference play Friday Feb. 16 in Rec Hall as the Nittany Lions take on Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. ET in main gym followed by a 4 p.m. ET matchup Saturday afternoon with Harvard in South Gym.
