UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 24, with the Challenge at Champions against Michigan State at Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas.

Each team will send out six competitors on the 7,301-yard, par-71 Cypress Creek course with the first grouping teeing off at 1 p.m. ET. The top five scores from each team will count towards the team total to determine the winner.

"We are so fortunate to be hosted by Jackie Burke and the Champions Golf Club," said Penn State head coach Greg Nye. "Both the Spartans and the Nittany Lions look forward to this head-to-head competition in Houston."

Representing the Nittany Lions will be senior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) and juniors Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.), JD Hughes (Carlisle, Pa.), and Ryan Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.). Rounding out the lineup will be sophomores Alec Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) and Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.).

A season ago, Penn State took a 10-stroke victory over the Spartans and Miller shot an event low, 2-under 69. Five of this year's Nittany Lions played in the 2017 edition of the Challenge at Champions, with Bard making his debut in the event.

The two teams met in the Big Ten Match Play Championship on Feb. 10 where Penn State edged out Michigan State, 4-2, in a fog-shortened nine holes. The Spartans went on to claim a share of the Big Ten Match Play Championship with Purdue.

"Michigan State is a very solid team and program," Nye said. "Our challenge is obvious between our opponent and this world-class golf course."
