UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's basketball coach Patrick Chambers has added Daniil Kasatkin to the class of 2018 as the 6-7 combination guard has signed his national letter of intent to play for the Nittany Lions. From Ivanovo, Russia, Kasatkin completed his high school career at Mountain Mission School in Grundy, Virginia.

"We're continuing to build the future of Penn State basketball on a solid foundation and we are thrilled to add a young man of Daniil's character and ability to our program," said Chambers, who directed the Nittany Lions to 26 wins and the 2018 NIT Championship. "An unselfish playmaker who has exceptional court vision coupled with being an elite shooter, at 6-7, Daniil's versatility will be a huge asset to our team."

A starter during both of his two seasons at Mountain Mission, Kasatkin averaged 14.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, with a 46.9 field goal percentage from inside the arc. His senior year numbers included 40 percent 3-point field goal shooting and an 85.0 free throw percentage.

Kasatkin was a Virginia nominee for the 2018 McDonald's All-American Game and earned National Association of Christian Athletes (NACA) All-America accolades. He was selected to all-tournament teams for both the Sportsmen for Christ tournament and Chance Harman Showcase.

A contributor on the Russian U-16 and U-18 national teams, Kasatkin scored 11 points in the FIBA U18 European Championship vs. Turkey, including a career-best three 3-pointers. He stood out in the 2015 FIBA U-16 Championship in Moscow with 37 points vs. Trinta.
