UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- The Penn State women's tennis team will hit the road for the final time this coming weekend, as they take on No. 50 Purdue and Indiana. They will face the Purdue Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Indiana on Friday, Apr. 13 at 3:00 p.m. and the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington, Indiana on Sunday, Apr. 15 at 11:00 a.m.
Penn State (7-11, 2-5 B1G) is coming off of a weekend where they defeated Wisconsin, 4-3, and fell to Minnesota, 5-2. The win against Wisconsin came in thrilling fashion as the team came from behind, with Shannon Hanley (Kensington, Md.) clinching the match with a win in No. 3 singles.
Purdue (11-8, 4-3 B1G) is riding a three game winning streak headed into the match against the Nittany Lions. They last defeated Indiana 4-3. The Boilermakers jumped into the rankings this week at No. 50 after previously being unranked.
Indiana (14-8, 2-5 B1G) is 12-3 at home this year. The Hoosiers will take on No. 35 Ohio State on Friday, Apr. 13 before hosting the Nittany Lions on Sunday.
"We know Purdue and Indiana are two tough teams," said head coach Chris Cagle. "When you combine that fact with us playing on the road, we know we need to be ready. We have been competing and playing at a high level, so I expect that to continue. Most of our matches have come down to a handful of points and that very well could be the case again this weekend."
Links to live stats and video will be posted on Twitter and Facebook prior to the start of the matches.
Next up, the team will return home for the final two matches of the regular season. They will host No. 12 Northwestern on Friday, Apr. 20 at 4:00 p.m. and No. 14 Illinois for Senior Day on Sunday, Apr. 21 at 11:00 a.m.
