UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State sophomore guard Tony Carr announced Monday that he will pursue his dream of playing in the NBA and forgo his final two years of collegiate eligibility. He intends to sign with an agent.

Carr, joined by his parents, Tony Sr., and Nicole, and Nittany Lion basketball coach Patrick Chambers, met with members of the media at the Bryce Jordan Center with support from his teammates and family members.

From Philadelphia, Pa., Carr finished the 2017-18 campaign as Penn State's leading scorer and top playmaker for the second-straight season at 19.6 points per game and 5.0 assists per game. The All-Big Ten Conference first team selection and Big Ten All-Tournament pick became the first Penn State men's basketball sophomore to reach the 1,000 career point milestone.

He also earned first-team All-District honors from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) this season.

Carr finishes his Penn State career ranked 23rd on the Nittany Lions' all-time scoring list with 1,161 points. His 725 points in 2017-18 places him second on Penn State's single-season list and his 186 assists third on that season chart. Carr set freshman year records with 26 double-figure scoring games and 139 assists while leading his team in scoring (13.2) and assists (4.2).
