ROSEMONT, Ill. - Junior Tori Dubois (Mt. Vernon, N.H.) was named Second Team All-Big Ten by the conference coaches Wednesday, May 9. The honor marks the second of her career as she was named First Team All-Big Ten in her sophomore campaign.
Dubois started all 50 games for the Nittany Lions in left field, leading the Blue and White with a .295 batting average that included 46 hits, eight doubles, nine home runs, 27 RBI and 21 runs scored. The Mt. Vernon, New Hampshire native's seven home runs in Big Ten Conference action tied for fifth overall.
The right-handed hitter hit three game-winning home runs this season for Penn State, including a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning against Minnesota to snap its 28 home game winning streak. Dubois also hit a game-winning home run against Illinois in a Senior Day victory and a game-winning grand slam against Robert Morris.
Dubois paced the Nittany Lions with 11 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games this season, while carrying a team-best nine game hitting streak and 13 game reached base streak. Finally, Dubois was voted as the 2018 Penn State Softball Offensive Player of the Year and the Most Valuable Player.
Additionally, senior pitcher Jessica Cummings (Owings, Md.) earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for the Blue and White. Cummings appeared in 42 games, making 26 starts in the circle in her final season as a Nittany Lion. The Owings, Maryland native hurled 167.2 innings, striking out 96 batters for Penn State.
