UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- The Penn State women's tennis team has announced a tournament change to its fall schedule. The Nittany Lions will now travel to the Hokie Fall Invite from Sept. 28-30, instead of the Seahawk Invitational.
The team was originally scheduled to travel to the Seahawk Invitational hosted by UNCW in Wilmington, N.C. Due to recent weather that has affected that area, the Nittany Lions will now be attending the Hokie Fall Invite, competing Friday-Sunday, Sept. 28-30.
The Hokie Fall Invite, is hosted by Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, Va., at the Burrow-Burleson Tennis Center.
"Due to the recent weather conditions from Hurricane Florence and the impact of the storm, our team will not be traveling to the upcoming tournament at UNCW next weekend," said head coach Chris Cagle. "This is an especially tough tournament for me to miss, being an alumni of UNCW and looking forward to not only competing against tough competition, but also seeing some old friends. In addition our team really enjoyed our time in Wilmington last year and was looking forward to returning. Hurricane Florence has had a tremendous impact on not only Wilmington but the large majority of North Carolina, South Carolina and a large part of the East Coast. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted!"
