LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coming off back-to-back tournament victories the last two weekends, the Penn State women's golf team will now travel to the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky this weekend from Friday, October 5 – Sunday, October 7.
LAST TIME OUT
- · Penn State took home first place during the Princeton Invitational last weekend finishing at 12-over, eight strokes ahead of second place Georgetown.
- · Senior classmates Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) and Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) each finished tied for sixth while junior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) completed the tournament tied for tenth. It marked the second-consecutive week all three players finished in the top-10.
THE TEAM
- · The Nittany Lions will travel to Lexington, Kentucky with the same group they took to Princeton last weekend. Basso, Waller and McLean are joined by senior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) and freshman Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) to round out the 5-person team while junior Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) once again gets the nod to play as an individual.
RECEIVING VOTES
- · After back-to-back tournament victories, Penn State received three votes in the most recent Women's Golf Coaches Association national poll released earlier this week.
- · The Big Ten currently has three teams ranked inside the top-25 with Michigan State (No. 19), Northwestern (No. 21) and Illinois (No. 24) while Ohio State joins Penn State in receiving votes.
ABOUT THE BETTIE LOU EVANS INVITATIONAL
- · This marks the 29th annual event, which is hosted by the University of Kentucky at the University Club of Kentucky's Big Blue (par 72, 5,947 yards).
- · The field consists of 12 teams; Akron, Columbia, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Indianapolis, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Toledo and Western Kentucky.
- · The Invitational will be played in an 18-18-18 format with round one opening at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 5. Sunday's final round will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
- · Penn State will be paired with Notre Dame and Kentucky in the opening round with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. off hole number one.
