  • Penn State improves to 4-0 all-time against UMBC and 2-0 versus the Retrievers at the Bryce Jordan Center. Coach Patrick Chambers is now 4-1 vs. UMBC.

  • In holding UMBC to 35.7 percent field goal shooting, Penn State is 4-0 in games this season when it holds its opponent to less than 40 percent field goal shooting. The Nittany Lions own a 92.7 winning percentage (38-3) in such games dating back to the start of 2015-16.
  • Penn State's 10 3-point field goals tied the season high for the fourth time.
  • The 40 points in the first half marked the fourth time this season Penn State has had 40 or more points in the opening stanza this season.
  • Every Nittany Lion on the 2018-19 roster saw action vs. UMBC. Lamar Stevens and Rasir Bolton each played 34 minutes with Josh Reaves on the floor for 33 minutes.
  • Penn State closed the first half with a 17-4 run and finished the game with its largest margin of victory this season at 22 points (74-52).

 
Nittany Lions Individual Notes

  • Junior forward Lamar Stevens scored 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, marking the 20th-straight game in which he has scored in double figures. His current streak began in the 2018 Big Ten Tournament March 2 against Ohio State.
  • With his team-leading five assists, senior guard Josh Reaves moved into 18th place all-time on the Nittany Lions' career assist list with 261, passing Mike Walker (258).
  • Freshman guard Rasir Bolton lead the team with 18 points and has scored double figures in 10 of the Nittany Lions' 13 games. He has led the team in scoring five times.
  • Stevens pulled down seven rebounds vs. UMBC, with five in the second half, and has led Penn State in rebounding 25 times in his career.
