UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State All-Sports Museum is proud to announce that it has received a 2019 Institutional Achievement Award from PA Museums for its recent exhibit Field to Front: Nittany Lions at War, 1917-1919. The Museum is one of 11 sites from across the state to receive recognition this year.  Other winners include the Museum of the American Revolution (Philadelphia), the State Museum of Pennsylvania (Harrisburg), Eastern State Penitentiary and Historic Site (Philadelphia), Old Economy Village (Ambridge), and Cumberland County Historical Society (Carlisle).  A full list of winners is available at https://pamuseums.org/awards

The award will be presented on April 8, 2019 at the PA Museums Annual Statewide Museum Conference.  This year's conference will be hosted by the Brandywine Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, PA.

Field to Front opened in April 2017 and closed in December 2018. Timed to coincide with the American centennial of World War I, Field to Front chronicled the contributions of Nittany Lion lettermen during the conflict and followed their service from training in the United States to fighting in France and Italy. Utilizing a variety of photography, letters, and diaries, Field to Front provided visitors with a firsthand understanding of the service provided by notable Nittany Lions such as Bob Higgins (Football), James "Red" Bebout (Football), Levi L. Lamb (Football, Wrestling, & Track), and Harry C. Jester (Basketball).

Founded in 1905, PA Museums is Pennsylvania's statewide museum organization. The organization supports the museum community in Pennsylvania through advocacy work, professional development programs, information sharing, and an annual awards program to recognize exemplary work in the Commonwealth.

Opened in 2002, the Penn State All-Sports Museum is located at the southwest corner of Beaver Stadium and honors the achievements of the men and women who have built the proud tradition of Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics.  The Museum is currently operating on its winter hours of 10AM-4PM Friday & Saturday and 12PM-4PM Sunday.  Admission is by suggested donation of $5 for adults and $3 for children, seniors, and students
