UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State track & field program gets the 2019 calendar year underway with the Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 12. Action begins at 11 a.m. at the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.

According to the United States Track & Field Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA), the men's team is ranked No. 14 and the women's team is No. 23.
RECORD BOOK PERFORMANCES
At the Bison Opener, Maddie Holmberg moved into the top-5 all-time at Penn State in the long jump with her mark of 20-4.5 (6.21m).
RETURNING ALL-AMERICANS
Penn State returns three All-Americans from the 2018 indoor track & field season. On the men's side, David Lucas is back for his junior year after capturing the gold medal in the weight throw. For the Penn State women, both Maddie Holmberg (pentathlon) and Danae Rivers (800-meter run) finished seventh in their respective events at last year's NCAA Championships.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Penn State indoor track & field season features four home meets inside the friendly confines of the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. Penn State will host Nittany Lion Challenge (Jan. 12), the National Open (Jan. 25-26), Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup (Feb. 2) and the Penn State Tune-Up (Feb. 16).

Penn State travels to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for the Simmons Harvey Invite hosted by the University of Michigan on Jan. 19. The meet will be aired live on the Big Ten Network from noon to 3:30 p.m.
