  • This game was deemed "Team Ream" Day with a portion of single-game tickets benefitting the Team Ream Foundation, which assists individuals and their families in the fight against cancer.
  • The Nittany Lions' overall strength of schedule ranks seventh in the nation with a No. 33 ranking for non-conference strength of schedule, according to CBS sports.
  • This marked the first time CBS sports was at the BJC in two decades.

Penn State Team Notes 

  • PSU held Michigan State to 71 points, 15.4 points below its season team scoring average. The Spartans are the ninth opponent to be held below its average by double digits and 15th of 17 overall to not reach its average in 2018-19.
  • Penn State improved in its shooting from the field in the second half at 42.9 percent and outscored Michigan State 32-31 in the second half.
  • The Nittany Lions played tough on defense recording eight steals and four blocks which allowed Penn State gain the edge in the points off turnover battle, 18 to 13.
  • Against Big Ten opponents, Michigan State's 17 turnovers matched the season high caused at Maryland (17), also most for the Spartans in Big Ten play.
  • The defensive efforts allowed the Nittany Lions to convert nine fast break points.

 
Nittany Lions Individual Notes 

  • Josh Reaves filled the stat sheet, recording a career high in assists with nine, and season-high totals in blocks with three and steals with five. Additionally, Reaves scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds.
  • Reaves now has 214 career steals, four shy of tying Titus Ivory (218-1997-2001) for the No. 3 spot on PSU's career steals list and No. 9 on the Big Ten career list. Reaves took sole possession of 17th on Penn State's career assist list, now with 276 and 11 behind Brandon Watkins (1999-2003) with 287.
  • Lamar Stevens' 20 points marked the 24th consecutive game in which Stevens has scored double-digit points and his 8th game scoring 20 or more points in the 2018-2019 season. The junior forward also recorded six rebounds and an assist.
  • Mike Watkins scored 11 points in addition to grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. Watkins' seven rebounds brings him to 622 for his career which moves him up to the 17th most rebounds in Penn State history passing James Barnes, Bill Stansfield and Tom Hovasse. Watkins also recorded one block in the contest.
  • Myles Dread shot an effective 4-5 from the floor including 3-4 on 3FG which was good for 11 points. He also contributed an assist, a steal and two rebounds.
  • Kyle McCloskey played valuable time setting career highs with 18 minutes played and three rebounds. He also drew two offensive fouls.
