UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State track & field program travels to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to get a preview of the home of the 2019 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships – the U-M Indoor Track Building. On Saturday, Jan. 19, the Nittany Lions will compete against hosts Michigan, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska and Ohio State at the Simmons-Harvey Big Ten Invite.

FOLLOW ALONG
The meet begins at 11 a.m., and will be streamed on the Big Ten Network from noon to 3:30 p.m.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS
For her record-setting performance at the Nittany Lion Challenge, Danae Rivers was named the Big Ten and U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Athlete of the Week.

IN THE RANKINGS
According to the United States Track & Field Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA), the men's team is ranked No. 14 and the women's team is No. 23.

RETURNING ALL-AMERICANS
Penn State returns three All-Americans from the 2018 indoor track & field season. On the men's side, David Lucas is back for his junior year after capturing the gold medal in the weight throw. For the Penn State women, both Maddie Holmberg (pentathlon) and Danae Rivers (800-meter run) finished seventh in their respective events at last year's NCAA Championships.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Penn State indoor track & field season features four home meets inside the friendly confines of the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. Penn State will host Nittany Lion Challenge (Jan. 12), the National Open (Jan. 25-26), Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup (Feb. 2) and the Penn State Tune-Up (Feb. 16).

IN THE RECORD BOOKS
Maddie Holmberg and Danae Rivers have each set a PSU record book performance this indoor season. For Rivers, she set the PSU school record and the collegiate record in the women's 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:38.58, while Holmberg owns the No. 5 mark in the women's long jump with a distance of 20-5 (6.22m).

UP NEXT
Penn State returns home to Happy Valley to host the Penn State National Open. Action gets underway at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, and then the meet continues on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11:15 a.m. at the Multi-Sport Indoor Facility.
