O’Gorman Ranked No. 98 in ITA Singles

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- Penn State women's tennis sophomore Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) has earned the No. 98 rank in singles in the ITA Division I Women's Tennis Rankings.This is first time O'Gorman has been ranked in her career. 

"The ranking for Gabby is a testament to her hard work this entire year," said head coach Chris Cagle. "She, along with her teammates, have worked very hard to try and push Penn State women's tennis to new levels. [Assistant coach] Alexandra Anghelescu has done a really good job in adding some things to Gabby's game, but this really is just a start. I am excited to see where Gabby and the entire team can take this year!"

O'Gorman has defeated two ranked opponents this season, both in straight sets. O'Gorman defeated then No. 76 Claudia Bartolome of Pitt, 6-1, 6-4. She also defeated then No. 33 Katarina Kozarov of Furman, 7-5, 7-5.

Overall, O'Gorman is 6-2 in singles play and 8-0 in doubles in the spring. All of her wins in both doubles and singles have come on court No. 1.

O'Gorman commented on her feelings on earning her first career ranking.

"I've wanted to be ranked for so long, I'm so excited. It's nice that the hard work is paying off."

The last time a Penn State player was ranked was in February of 2017, when Katia Blik was No. 81.
