OPENING TIPS
- Penn State hits the road for three of its next four games and five of its next seven, beginning with a Wednesday night trip to Ohio State.
- Senior Teniya Page scored her 2,000th career point in Penn State's most recent game Sunday. She is five assists away from becoming the first-ever Lady Lion to eclipse the 2,000 points, 400 rebounds and 400 assists milestones.
- Four Lady Lions are averaging 9.5 or more points, led by Teniya Page's 19.8 ppg. Page's 19.8 ppg ranks second amongst all Big Ten players, and 23rd in Division I.
IF PENN STATE BEATS OHIO STATE
- The Lady Lions would snap their eight-game losing streak to the Buckeyes and earn their first victory over Ohio State since Feb. 9, 2014 when Penn State beat the Buckeyes 74-54 in Columbus.
- The Lady Lions would pick up their second road win of conference play and improve to 4-7 in the Big Ten.
SCOUTING OHIO STATE
- The Buckeyes enter Wednesday's midweek battle with a 9-11 overall record and 5-6 mark in conference play.
- Ohio State's five Big Ten wins have come over then-#25 Indiana (55-50), then-#17 Michigan State (65-55), Penn State (76-71 OT), Minnesota (65-55) and Illinois (78-70).
- The Buckeyes suffered a 76-59 setback at Northwestern Sunday afternoon in their most recent game. The loss snapped a two-game win streak.
- Dorka Juhasz paces OSU with 11.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Carly Santoro follows with 11.4 points per contest.
AGAINST THE BUCKEYES
- Ohio State has won the last eight matchups dating back to 2014, but Penn State still holds a 36-29 edge in the all-time series.
- Penn State is 13-12 all-time in road games against the Buckeyes.
- The Lady Lions came out on the short end of a game of runs as Ohio State dealt the Lady Lions a tough 76-71 overtime loss in the season's first meeting on Jan. 17 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
- The Lady Lions use a 28-2 run to turn a six-point deficit into an 18-point lead during a 10-minute stretch in the third and fourth quarters. Ohio State answered back with a 22-4 streak in the final six minutes of the game to force overtime, before outscoring the Lady Lions 9-4 in the extra frame.
- Teniya Page led Penn State with 19 points. Amari Carter and Karisma Ortiz added 12 points apiece, while Siyeh Frazier chipped in 11.
A LEAGUE OF HER OWN
- Teniya Page is on track to become the first player in Lady Lion history to eclipse 2,000 career points, 400 career assists and 400 career rebounds.
- She needs just five assists to become the first player in program history to reach all three milestones.
- As of Feb. 4, there is only one active Division I player who has accomplished all three feats. Central Michigan's Presley Hudson has tallied 2,032 points, 469 rebounds and 562 assists to date.
AN ELITE CLUB
- Senior guard Teniya Page became the sixth-ever Lady Lion to reach the 2,000 career point milestone in Sunday's game against Iowa.
- Page joined the likes of former Penn State legends Kelly Mazzante (2,919 points), Maggie Lucas (2,510), Susan Robinson (2,253), Tyra Grant (2,044) and Kahadeejah Herbert (2,026) as the sixth member of the 2,000-point club.
- Her 2,004 career points rank sixth all-time on the Penn State career scoring charts and is 13th amongst all active Division I players.
- The standout has already etched her names into several of Penn State's record books:
- Career minutes per game (35.7) - 2nd in Penn State history
- Career 30-plus point games (8) - 2nd in Penn State history
- Career free throws made (504) - 3rd in Penn State history
- Career scoring average (18.2 ppg) - 4th in Penn State history
NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY
- February 6th is National Girls and Women In Sports Day and since the Lady Lions are on the road on Feb. 6, Penn State celebrated in a unique way in its most recent home game Sunday against Iowa.
- Penn State hosted 54 local girls between the ages of 7 and 13 as Lady Lion Staff Members For A Day.
- Each local girl was paired with a member of the Lady Lions' gameday staff. The staffers for a day took part in everything from public address announcing, to radio broadcasting, to learning about being a team manager, sports information director, event manager and more.
- This is the 33rd annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day, a national observance celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sports.
