UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Women's Lacrosse goalkeeper Taylor Suplee was selected Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Tuesday. She helped the Nittany Lions to an 11-9 win over Albany on Saturday.
In two games this week, Suplee totaled 19 saves and a .487 save percentage while going 1-1. She collected a team-high eight ground balls in two starts.
On Wednesday against No. 7 James Madison, Suplee matched a career-high with 11 saves. She made five stops in the first half and six in the second half. She added a career-best six ground balls.
She followed with an eight-save performance against Albany. The Maryland native made seven of her eight saves in the first half. She also scooped up two ground balls.
Suplee has started all seven games for the Nittany Lions, earning a 4-3 record. She has 58 saves and a .464 save percentage in 377 minutes of action. She made 11 saves in each game against Cornell (2/23), No. 14 Loyola (3/2) and James Madison. The freshman allowed only five goals against Lehigh (2/16) and seven in the opener against Towson (2/9). She also has 13 groundballs and three caused turnovers.
The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, is 4-3 and ranked No. 19 in the IWLCA Poll. Penn State opens up Big Ten play on Saturday, March 16 at Michigan. First draw is scheduled for noon at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium with a live stream on BTN Plus.
