UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's basketball forward Lamar Stevens earned additional honors as he was named to the Associated Press All-Big Ten second team and the United State Basketball Writers Association of America (USBWA) All-District II team.
From North Wales, Pennsylvania, Stevens is one of only two Big Ten Conference players to rank in the top 10 in scoring and rebounding in league games. He averaged 20 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in those 20 contests and had 17 outings with 20 or more points in all games in 2018-19. With 16 points in the final game of the regular season, Stevens moved into Penn State's top 5 scoring list with 1,636 career points.
Stevens was the fastest Penn State men's basketball third-year player to 1,500 points and is one of only six Nittany Lions with 1,500 points and 600 rebounds. He scored his 1,000th career point as a sophomore, one of only two in the program with that achievement.
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association awards accolades to 10 players representing each of the nine geographic districts and the honors are based on voting from its national membership of 900-plus. The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season, its founding year.
