Women's Golf Finishes 12th at Briar's Creek Invitational

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – Paced by senior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) the Penn State women's golf team finished 12th in the 17-team field at the 2019 Briar's Creek Invitational at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek.

Rogowicz shot her second-consecutive 1-under round of 71 to finish the tournament seventh with a score of 214 (2-under). Starting on the back-nine, the senior went out in 1-over and came home in 2-under finishing the tournament a combined 6-under on the front nine for the week with seven total birdies and one eagle. The senior now has four top-10's so far this season to lead the team.

Penn State dropped one spot from yesterday with its 12th-place finish carding an 11-over round on Tuesday concluding the tournament with a score of 888 (24-over).  Michigan State captured the tournament crown as the only team under par with a score of 856 (8-under) while Indiana (even-par), Campbell (9-over), College of Charleston (13-over) and Old Dominion (13-over) rounded out the top-five.

Freshman Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) finished the tournament tied for 26th after her final round 75 (3-over) gave her a score of 222 (6-over) for the week.

Junior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) and senior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) carded final rounds of 77 (5-over) and 75 (3-over), respectively, finishing the tournament tied for 47th and 56th. Junior Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) finished tied for 36th while playing as an individual after registering a final round 4-over, 76, finishing the tournament 8-over par.

Senior Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) rounded out the team scoring with a 7-over round of 79 on Tuesday.
