Cam Brown Looking to Make a Major Impact
Cam Brown, a senior from Burtonsville, Maryland, has quickly emerged as one of the top impact players this spring. As the Nittany Lions near the halfway point of spring ball, Browns veteran presence has significantly impacted a relatively youthful roster. Aside from making significant strides in his game, Brown is arguably making his biggest impact in a different category.
"The biggest difference is his leadership," Franklin stated. "He has taken command of the team and the defense. He's gotten bigger, stronger and more physical. It's that steady evolution that you see with him. He has the chance to have a really big year."
Last season, the Maryland native tallied 41 solo tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and forced three fumbles. When asked to define spring camp and the potential Penn State has this upcoming season, Brown immediately smirked and simply stated – competitive.
"Guys have been flying around, we have competition at every spot," Brown said. "No one knows who's starting, everyone wants to play."
Competitive, a spring motto that has certainly shown up not only for Brown, but the Penn State defense as a whole. "Cam Brown has really stepped up," added senior kicked Blake Gillikin. "I think he's preparing to have a really big senior season."

Senior Leadership
With spring practice nearing completion, veteran leadership has clearly continued to make an impact. Aside from Brown, senior Blake Gillikin has taken on a new vocal role with this year's squad. "We lost a lot of veteran leadership," Gillikin said. "I think I've worked on being more vocal. I've always led by example, but vocal leadership is something I've always struggled with. That's what I've added to my leadership qualities."
