ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Big Ten Conference unveiled home and away opponents for the 2019-20 season as the league continues its 20-game schedule for its 14 men's basketball teams. Last year, the Big Ten became the first conference in history to adopt and implement a 20-game schedule.
Using the same format as last season, Penn State will face seven "double play" opponents in Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State and Rutgers for home and away games. The remaining six games feature the Nittany Lions playing host to Illinois, Maryland and Wisconsin with away games at Michigan, Nebraska and Purdue.
The Nittany Lions will play Indiana, Michigan State and Minnesota both at the Bryce Jordan Center and on the road, meeting these opponents twice in a season for the first time since 2016-17.
Penn State, which played the 10th toughest schedule in 2018-19 according to kenpom.com, went 7-3 over its last 10 Big Ten Conference games with home wins over No. 6 Michigan and No. 17 Maryland and a trio of road victories. The BJC will host 10 conference contests again in 2019-20.
