Penn State Gymnastics’ Nedoroscik Represents USA at 2019 World University Games

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's gymnastics student-athlete Stephen Nedoroscik will represent the United States on pommel horse in individual event competition at the 2019 World University Games in Naples, Italy next week. Penn State head men's gymnastics coach Randy Jepson will serve as the coach for the United States.

Eighteen sports will be contested at this summer's Games, the 30th edition of the event, with both U.S. men's gymnastics individuals, Nedoroscik and Illinois' Alex Diab (still rings), from the Big Ten Conference.

The qualifying rounds begin Wednesday, July 3 with the individual event finals on Sunday, July 7 in the Palavesuvio sports complex.

From Worcester, Massachusetts, Nedoroscik is currently a member of the U.S. Senior Men's National Team. He finished second on pommel horse at the 2019 NCAA Championships to claim All-America honors on that apparatus for the third time. Nedoroscik competed earlier this year at the International Gymnastics Federation's individual event World Cup in Doha, Qatar, where he earned a sixth-place finish on pommel horse.

Participation in men's gymnastics at the World University Games is a joint effort between the College Gymnastics Association (CGA), USA Gymnastics and the NCAA member institutions.

The World University Games is a multi-sport event held every two years and participants must be born between January 1, 1994, and December 31, 2001; have taken at least one three-credit course towards a degree or diploma within the last year before the games; and the athlete must be "progressing towards a degree."
