UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's soccer program will begin the 2019 season ranked No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll. The Nittany Lions will play four ranked teams during the 2019 season.
The Florida State Seminoles garnered 33 of the 35 first places votes following their national championship in 2018 and begin the season ranked No. 1. North Carolina checks in at No.2 in the rankings following an appearance in the national championship last season.
The Nittany Lions will welcome the No. 3 Stanford Cardinal to Jeffrey Field to open the 2019 season. UCLA (No. 4) and USC (No. 5) round out the top five in the coaches poll.
Penn State and Wisconsin (No. 16) represent the Big Ten in the top-25 to begin the 2019 season.
The Nittany Lions will also play No. 9 Virginia and No. 11 West Virginia during the 2019 campaign.
2019 marks the fourth consecutive year the Nittany Lions will open the season against an opponent ranked in the top 10. The No. 3 Stanford Cardinal will visit Jeffrey Field on August 23 at 7:00 p.m.
