Women’s Lacrosse Announces Fall Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's lacrosse team is set to play in three tournaments for its eight-game Fall schedule, announced on Friday.
 
The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, open the Fall by hosting three teams at Panzer Stadium on Saturday, October 12.  Penn State will battle Syracuse at 11 a.m, Cornell at 1 p.m. and Lehigh at 3 p.m.
 
Syracuse reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament last season and ranked No. 5 in the final IWLCA Poll with a 16-5 mark.  Cornell finished with an 8-8 record in 2019.  The Nittany Lions earned a 14-12 win over the Big Red on February 23.  Lehigh was 8-9 last year with Penn State claiming a 15-5 victory on February 16.
 
The blue and white will travel to Penn on Sunday, October 20 at Franklin Field.  Penn State is set to take on Virginia Tech at 11:15 a.m.  The Nittany Lions will battle Penn at 1 p.m.
 
Virginia Tech went 8-10 in 2019, while Penn reached the first round of the NCAA Tournament and ranked No. 14 in the final IWLCA Poll.  Penn went 12-6 overall and reached the Ivy League Championship Game.
 
The Nittany Lions finish the Fall on Saturday, October 26 at Georgetown.  Penn State meets Richmond at 11 a.m., James Madison at noon and Georgetown at 3 p.m.
 
Richmond went 17-4 last season and won the Atlantic 10 Championship.  The Spiders reached the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  James Madison was 16-4 in 2019, with a 6-0 mark in CAA play.  The Dukes won the CAA title and reached the first round of the NCAA Tournament before ranking No. 15 to end the year.  Georgetown went 12-9 last season and won the Big East Championship.  The Hoyas advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and ranked No. 18 in the final IWLCA Poll.
 
The Nittany Lions won eight games in 2019, including victories over No. 11 Towson and No. 21 Johns Hopkins. Penn State is set to return 25 members for the 2020 season, including 2019 All-Big Ten selection Maria Auth and two-time All-American Madison Carter.
