Two Nittany Lions Forgo Eligibility to Pursue Professional Playing Opportunities

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's soccer student-athletes Ethan Beckford and Jeremy Rafanello will both forgo their collegiate eligibility to pursue professional playing opportunities overseas as announced by head coach Jeff Cook Monday.

"This summer both Jeremy and Ethan were presented with professional opportunities in Europe that they ultimately decided to accept," said Cook. "We thank them for their contributions to the Penn State men's soccer program and hope that they find success in their soccer careers, and that they return one day to complete their degrees."

Beckford won two letters as a Nittany Lion and earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors in 2017 and Rafanello was a 2018 Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection.

The 2019 Nittany Lions kick off the season against Stanford within the friendly confines of Jeffrey Field on Friday, August 30 at 7 p.m.
