UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Penn State men's gymnastics team opens Big Ten competition with a home meet against No. 7 Ohio State on Saturday at Rec Hall. The meet is scheduled at 8 p.m., following the Penn State women's gymnastics meet against Iowa at 4 p.m.
The men's meet will stream live on the Fox Sports app and BTN Plus. The replay will be shown on the Big Ten Network on Sunday at noon.
Penn State is 7-0 after defeating six teams at the West Point Open to start the season and then Army West Point in its home opener at Rec Hall last weekend. The Lions had four individual event wins against the Black Knights. Andres Perez Gines took first on high bar, Isaac Hammett won on rings, Brady Yamamoto won on floor and Robbie Shamp and Brayden Borromeo tied for first on vault.
Ohio State opened its season last weekend and finished second out of three teams. The Buckeyes scored 397.600 while losing to Oklahoma and beating Arizona State in Columbus. Rihad Trams tied for first on pommel horse with a score of 13.500.
Penn State and Ohio State will meet for the 33rd time in a series that began in 1976. The Lions lead 20-12 in dual meets, including a 13-8 record at Rec Hall. The Buckeyes won last year's meeting in Columbus, 413.25-409.00. Sam Zakutney won on floor and high bar.
NEDOROSCIK SCORES 15.5
Two-time national champion Stephen Nedoroscik scored a career-best 15.5 in his first pommel horse routine of the season and went on to win the individual title at the West Point Open. It ranks as the best pommel horse score in the nation this season by a large margin — next best is 14.2 by Nedoroscik's teammate Nick Mock.
PENN STATE HAS BEST POMMEL HORSE IN NATION
The Lions scored the highest team pommel horse score in the nation while winning the West Point Open with a 70.400. The second best is Nebraska at 67.650.
HAMMETT TOP IN RINGS
Isaac Hammett owns the nation's best rings routine with a 14.350 at the West Point Open. The next best is 14.150 by gymnasts from Arizona State and Illinois.
HOME OPENER STREAK
Penn State beat Army in its home opener on Jan. 18, to up its home winning streak to 40 consecutive seasons. The last team to beat the Lions in their home opener was UIC in 1980.

Seven different gymnasts hold the top score in an event for the Lions this season – Brady Yamamoto (floor), Stephen Nedoroscik (pommel horse), Isaac Hammett (rings), Brayden Borromeo (vault), Eric Lung (parallel bars), Alex Frack (high bar), Brennan Pantazis (all-around).
